New Year Honours for academic (8 Jan)
Amosa Fa’afoi in the School of Maori Social and Cultural Studies in Education has been made a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the Pacifica community. Congratulations Amosa.

New Head of School (8 Jan)
The UC College of Education warmly welcomes Professor Gregory Lee to the position of Head of School - Education Studies and Human Development effective from January 19, 2009. Prior to appointment Professor Lee held an Associate Professor position with The University of Waikato School of Education. His research interests include education policy, assessment, and education history. Professor Lee replaces Dr John Church who finishes his term as Acting Head of School.

Education Plus directer announces retirement (2 Dec)
Peter Allen, has tendered his resignation effective from April, 2009. Peter has been an outstanding leader and strong advocate for Education Plus over the past six years and retires from this position at a time when Education Plus will have transferred to the Dovedale campus.

Composer helps introduce orchestral music to the young (13 Nov)
Senior Lecturer Dr Patrick Shepherd has this year been part of the christchurch symphony Orchestra's outreach and education programme. "We play lots of exciting music and get some of the children to play the perscussion instruments and some get to pretend to be the conductor."
